This is a letter Richard wrote to his grandfather, Ulrich Fries, on April 5, 1944 — just one week before his plane was shot down over Belgium.
This letter made its way back to the family on April 3, 2017. Coleen Price, the daughter of Richard's cousin Fred Warner, was kind enough to send it to Richard's sister, Lois Rathvon.
